Be careful jookbeard, or you will have one of those holy men with a turban and a beard issuing a fatwa because you have insulted The Prophet. And then another holy man (with or without turban and beard) will come looking for you to carry it out. Uh uh, and now by implying these people are intolerant and murderous they will probably come after me too.
BTY insearchoftruth4 – I did not wish to imply that Islam equals racist. There are racist everywhere, including fundamentalist Christians as well as fundamentalist Moslems. I only mentioned it because he was a devout believer, and I can never understand in this day and age how a devout believer in any faith can at the same time be a virulent racist.
what attracted you to the watchtower?
were you raised in it?
if not, what caused you to convert?
I am very interested to know if any of those of you that were "born in" actually believed at any stage of your life that you were born into the "Truth". I don't mean when you were a child, we all believe what our parents tell us when we are young, but when you were capable of thinking for yourself. At what point did you realise that your parents were wrong, and this Religion was a fraud. Or was it a case that you just didn't want it, rebelled against it, and found out it was all wrong after you left?
i have always been taught that jehovah god never changes his mind and he always carries out what he predicts.
then a friend of mine who is atheist showed me a scripture in the bible that caught me totally off guard.
it is in the book of jeremiah.
Interesting JK, it kind of makes the proposition that all of the Bible is equally inspired from God and consistent look a bit lame. So booker-t, you should not be surprised to find Jehovah changing his mind, for He is quite a different person in different books. And He must have had lots of regrets, for even as late as Jeremiah he was getting tired of them (Jer 15:6). But then He doesn't just feel regret for the bad things He had planned, He even had some for the good things He did as well (Jer 18:10).
the witchtower is being more careful now about putting a date.
out there for the beginning of the great tribulation.
they have learned their lesson from 1975. however they sure.
And don’t forget “very soon”, in case “soon” isn’t soon enough. It’s been soon for a hundred years, and it will still be soon a hundred years from now. Just like the carrot on the stick in front of the donkey - it will never be reached.

I can see the attraction of Islam to certain types of men, but I find it difficult to understand why a woman would find it appealing.
A niece of mine converted to Islam, although she was born into JWs- never could quite understand that. Her husband is probably the most racist person I know, but I guess racism is not unique to any culture. From an outsider’s viewpoint they just seem culturally to be a century or two behind the rest of the world. I’ve not read it, but I can’t imagine being “blown away” by the Quran. By some of its fundamentalist practitioners perhaps, but not the book itself.
a practical question concerning human psychology .
it very well be that it was the jws who were.
responsible for first approaching this posing question to people to incite their interest and concern.. i can confidently say it was for my 20 something year old mother back in the early 50's.. unfortunately people who did so, weren't completely discerning the probable commercial .
That's a genuine cover Loubelle, still available from the official website.

It seems to me that not only does He change His mind, but He then regrets His original action as well, e.g;
Gen 6:6-7
Ex 32:14
1 Sam 15:10-11
2 Sam 24:15-16.

every schoolboy used to know that at the height of the empire, almost a quarter of the atlas was coloured pink, showing the extent of british rule.. but that oft recited fact dramatically understates the remarkable global reach achieved by this country.. a new study has found that at various times the british have invaded almost 90 per cent of the countries around the globe.. .

Actually, it's not that small, excluding Australia, it's the 8th largest island in the world, and the journey from Lands End to John O'Groats is longer than Florida to Washington DC. But the weather's crap, so we have to invade the rest of the world to get the sunshine.
from time to time there are things said by the brother giving the public talk or conducting the watchtower that just make my jaw drop.
here are two from sunday.
"we are 98 years into the last days"
Do not forget - a thousand years with Jehovah are but a moment. (and in case that's not clear, I am being sarcastic).
